Job summary

Assystem Warrington is seeking a Senior Engineering Lead to direct a multi-disciplinary team on nuclear-focused projects, delivering on cost, time and safety requirements. You will shape requirements, assess TRL levels, and plan development activities across the project lifecycle.

The role demands strong leadership, extensive engineering design experience in regulated environments and familiarity with UK safety standards. Residency and SC clearance eligibility are noted for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to identify feasibility and develop outline requirement specifications.
• Identify TRL levels and develop technology development plans.
• Prepare plans for delivery of the appraise and select phase within schedule, cost and quality.
• Lead estimation, scheduling, forecasting and delivery of design deliverables.
• Manage DSA teams in production of deliverables and safety case development.
• Engage with site clients and stakeholders to interface across project disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Role Responsibilities

Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to:

• Identify the feasibility of the approach
• Develop an outline requirement specification
• Identify the TRL levels and associated development plans to deliver a viable solution
• Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraise and select phase of the project. Deliver to the agreed time, cost and quality
• Lead the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of the agreed design deliverables
• Manage the DSA teams in production of deliverables
• Develop the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, and production of substantiation documentation
• Identify additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule
• Interface with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s)
• Interface and engage with Site clients and stakeholders

Essential Experience

• Background in engineering, demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent leadership roles guiding technical personnel
• Significant experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge
• Recent experience working within a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is key
• Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (equivalent experience in other industries will be considered)
  • Health & Safety at Work Act
  • The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation
• Identification of Technological Readiness Levels and development of technology development plans

Qualifications

• Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or Equivalent) subject
• Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership.

Additional Information

• Ability to obtain SC Clearance
• Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
