We are looking for a Lead Digital Project Manager to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.

We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work, and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
  • Confidence in delivering complex, high-impact projects from start to finish, keeping them on time, on budget, and within scope.
  • Ability to make projects commercially viable, ensuring they deliver real value and improve existing services.
  • Strong skills in managing risks, issues, and dependencies, and supporting others to do the same.
  • A natural leader who can build positive team culture, handle challenges, and lead by example.
  • Experience in influencing senior stakeholders, resolving strategic issues, and navigating complex environments.
  • Ability to set priorities and guide teams, helping colleagues succeed in challenging situations.
  • Expertise in managing suppliers and procurement, ensuring compliance and securing value for money.
  • Passion for developing people, managing and mentoring senior project managers, and supporting growth across the delivery community.
You and your role

We are looking for Lead Digital Project Managers to work with us in one of two teams:

The Digital Channels Customer Experience Team, which is leading DWP's digital transformation, creating a modern, consistent, multi-channel experience for our customers. This team works across all DWP functions to make services more user-focussed and customer friendly.

Citizen Information are responsible for the ecosystem of digital products and services that underpin our use of customer data. This includes daily responsibility for the security and performance of our current services and enabling colleagues to serve their customers.

You will be leading the delivery of the next generation of digital products or evolving existing products to transform DWP into a digital first operation with multiple channels to best support our users and customers.

Our Lead Digital Project Managers will work across the whole of DWP and across government areas, leading projects that are changing how we provide and give access to our services. You'll need a 'can do' approach, curiosity and incredibly strong stakeholder management skills.

You'll also be part of a thriving Project Delivery community of practice, and we'll support you as you grow your skills and your career, with a range of development and stretch opportunities to suit your preferred learning style.
