Job summary

AND is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to own the Accounts platform cloud infrastructure on AWS, driving security, scalability and reliability across engineering teams.

You will lead design and implementation of automated delivery, IaC with Terraform, and robust monitoring while mentoring peers and shaping the platform roadmap.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to take technical ownership of the cloud infrastructure, deployment platforms and operational tooling that underpin our clients Accounts platform.

You will play a key leadership role in building and evolving a secure, resilient and highly scalable AWS environment, while establishing engineering standards and best practices across infrastructure, automation, observability and operational excellence.

Working closely with software engineering, security and platform teams, you will lead the design and implementation of reliable delivery processes and help ensure the Accounts platform can operate securely and efficiently at scale.

Key Responsibilities* Provide technical leadership and ownership of the AWS cloud infrastructure supporting the Accounts platform.

• Design, build and continuously improve scalable, resilient and secure cloud architectures.
• Lead the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, enabling reliable, automated and efficient software delivery.
• Establish and champion Infrastructure as Code practices, primarily using Terraform.
• Define and improve monitoring, observability, alerting and operational controls across the platform.
• Drive best practices around cloud security, networking, access control and infrastructure governance.
• Lead the technical response to production incidents, ensuring effective diagnosis, remediation and preventative action.
• Identify opportunities to improve platform reliability, performance, scalability and operational efficiency.
• Develop standards, patterns and reusable tooling that enable engineering teams to operate effectively.
• Mentor and support other DevOps, platform and engineering team members, promoting strong engineering practices.
• Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap decisions for the platform and wider DevOps capability.
• Champion automation and continuous improvement, reducing manual operational overhead and improving developer experience.

Essential Experience & Technical ExpertiseWe are particularly interested in candidates with strong experience in:

• AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code at scale.
• Designing and operating robust CI/CD platforms and deployment pipelines.
• Monitoring, observability and alerting, including establishing effective operational metrics and controls.
• Cloud security, identity and access management, networking and infrastructure governance.
• Platform engineering and production operations, including incident management and service reliability.
• Automation and scripting using technologies such as Python, Bash or similar.
• Designing highly available, resilient and scalable production environments.
• Applying DevOps and SRE principles to improve reliability and operational maturity.
