Job summary

GTS Group Ltd. in the United Kingdom seeks a Lead Design Engineer with an electrical design bias to own engineering delivery across multidisciplinary projects in a safety-critical context.

You will coordinate across electrical, mechanical and project teams, guiding engineers through design packages and governance while liaising with customers and suppliers. The role emphasizes technical leadership over people management, with responsibility for design integrity, gateways and lifecycle

Qualifications

• Strong design engineering foundation with ownership of delivery.
• Experience in regulated, safety-critical environments.
• Ability to coordinate and technically guide other engineers/designers.
• Experience leading or owning design work packages and reviews.
• Structured design reviews, technical assurance or gateway processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the delivery of engineering design work packages.
• Provide technical direction across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Translate requirements into deliverable design activities.
• Allocate work based on competency and project priorities.
• Monitor progress, hours and key deliverables; identify issues early.
• Lead design reviews and guide projects through gateways.
• Review drawings, models and technical documentation.
• Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, cost and lifecycle requirements.
• Challenge solutions to address installation, maintenance and integration considerations.
• Coordinate inputs across disciplines for successful integration.
• Manage design changes, drawing registers and risks.
• Communicate progress with Project Engineers/Managers and stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and identify process improvements.
