NEXT is seeking a Lead Data Scientist for the eCommerce Data Science team based at NEXT Head Office in Enderby, Leicestershire. You will build data-driven solutions with state-of-the-art machine learning, causal inference and experimentation to measure impact and guide business strategy.

You will lead end-to-end projects, mentor data scientists and collaborate with marketing teams to optimize campaigns using MMM, attribution and analytics dashboards.

Qualifications

  • Leadership or mentoring experience in data science or analytics.
  • Degree in statistics, CS, data science, economics, or related field.
  • Strong marketing analytics expertise including MMM, attribution, and campaign measurement.
  • Proficient in SQL, Python, R, PySpark; dashboarding in PowerBI/Looker.
  • Experience with causal inference, experiments, and test design.
  • Excellent communication to translate insights into business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end data science projects and mentor junior data scientists.
  • Develop MMM, predictive modelling, churn, LTV, attribution, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams and agencies to frame challenges and opportunities.

Job description

We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to join the eCommerce Data Science team. Based from NEXT Head Office in Enderby, Leicestershire with a competitive salary range starting from £66,000 alongside great benefits!

The Role:

eCommerce Data at NEXT provides the department and the business the means to see what is working and what is not by drawing data and analysing patterns of shopping behaviours on our site and in general.

As a Lead Data Scientist within Marketing Science at NEXT, you will build data driven solutions through state of the art machine learning, causal inference and experiment design to measure true impact and make impactful recommendations to the business. As a Lead you manage end to end projects and mentor data scientists.

What You'll Take On:
  • Working closely with marketing teams and agencies to understand challenges and opportunities in eCommerce marketing.
  • Proactively lead the design, development and deployment of data science solutions that inform marketing strategy and execution.
  • Build Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM), predictive modelling, lifetime value prediction, churn analysis, marketing attribution and channel optimisation.
  • Partner with marketing stakeholders to test, learn and optimise campaigns through experimental design and/or causal inference methods.
  • Create dashboards and data products that enable self-serve analytics and real time insights for marketing teams.
  • Drive data quality, model governance and documentation standards across the marketing science function.
What You'll Bring:
  • Proven years of experience in applied data science or analytics, with experience of doing a leadership or mentoring role.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or higher education in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or related field.
  • Strong expertise in marketing analytics, building MMM model via Meridian, Robyn and/or PyMc, multi touch attribution, customer lifecycle modelling.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, PySpark and dashboarding in PowerBI/Looker.
  • Experienced running Geolift test, causal inference model, and other forms of experimental design.
  • Solid foundation in machine learning, statistics, econometric modelling, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Preferred experience in the eCommerce, technology or marketing industry.
