Job summary

Join us as our Lead Data Scientist and help us develop our data capabilities to make a difference.

This is a fantastic opportunity for any established lead data scientists looking to make a difference, or for senior data scientists looking to take the next step in their career.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a small team of data scientists who will work on our new analytics platform.
  • Have a hands‑on role in developing and deploying a range of data science models, including those involving machine learning and NLP.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to identify the most impactful analytics projects, and to ensure any solutions address business needs.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience in a data science role, including experience of managing more junior data scientists.
  • Experience in thinking strategically about how to develop a data science function.
  • Strong understanding of a range of analytics, data science, and machine learning techniques, and proven experience in deploying models in real-world situations.
  • Extensive programming ability in Python and/or R and strong ability to use SQL, and experience with NLP, ML libraries and frameworks and in using Git or other version control systems in collaborative software projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of formulating, solving, and implementing analytical solutions to business problems.
  • Effective at building and maintaining good relationships across a number of stakeholders and teams across the organisation.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills and the ability to ‘talk tech' to senior teams with a commitment to ‘plain English' and grounding highly technical concepts into local understanding.
  • Experience in utilising cloud platforms, ideally with Azure and Databricks.
