Job summary

HM Treasury, through the NISTA Data & Insight Team in London, seeks a Lead Data Engineer to steer data architecture, govern data processing, and develop cloud-based applications for major government programmes.

You will work with data scientists and infrastructure engineers to translate complex data needs into robust, well-documented structures, champion data engineering best practices, and lead a skilled team to drive data-centric delivery across government.

Qualifications

• Experience leading data engineering teams and initiatives.
• Ability to translate complex data needs into clear technical designs.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the data framework for extracting, transforming and loading data on the cloud platform.
• Collaborate with data scientists and systems engineers to design efficient schemas.
• Implement secure, well-governed change practices across multi-environment setups.
• Lead development of our cloud architecture using Infrastructure as Code.
• Create and maintain clear technical documentation for data infrastructure.
