Job summary

ITSS Recruitment is seeking a Lead Data Engineer in Leeds to lead a team of data professionals on the organisation's central data platform. You will engineer, architect and govern data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure, guiding projects from concept to delivery with senior leadership alignment.

The role combines hands-on development with leadership responsibilities, offering a hybrid work pattern (2 days in Leeds office) and a strong focus on personal and professional development,

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading data engineering teams and delivering data platforms.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Azure and the modern data stack.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Hands-on coding with Python and SQL, plus data warehousing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across Data Engineers, BI Developers, DBAs and SQL Developers.
• Design, build and govern data pipelines, warehousing and data models for the central data platform.
• Lead projects from concept through delivery with support from senior leadership.

Lead Data Engineer - Up to 85K + Hybrid (2 days in office), 15% Pension, Private Healthcare + Microsoft Certifications - Leeds Central

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Lead Data Engineer to join a growing digital and data function based in central Leeds.

This exciting opportunity will suit a talented data professional with strong experience across Microsoft Fabric, Azure and modern data platform technologies. You will be joining an established data function of 18 professionals supporting a £650 million revenue organisation with over 2,500 employees.

This role combines hands‑on engineering, data architecture, team leadership and strategic decision making, giving you the opportunity to shape the future of the organisation's central data platform.

You will provide technical leadership across a team of Data Engineers, BI Developers, DBAs and SQL Developers, working on a range of business‑critical projects using the latest Microsoft technologies. The organisation actively encourages innovation, collaboration and knowledge sharing, and you'll have the opportunity to drive projects from concept through to delivery with the support of senior leadership.

The organisation are huge on aiding with personal and professional development, including fully subsidised Microsoft certifications (DP-600/700 etc).
