CDS Defence & Security in Cheltenham seeks a Senior Cybersecurity Audit and Assurance Specialist to provide independent, evidence-led assurance across cyber security, information risk, and resilience in regulated, defence, and high-assurance environments.

You will lead external audits, manage the full lifecycle, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the development of audit methodologies while upholding independence and ethics. A chartership or active progression is expected.

Competenze

• Extensive cyber security audit and assurance experience (8+ years) across defence/government.
• Proven lead in audit planning, execution and reporting on complex engagements.
• Strong understanding of audit principles and assurance methodologies.
• UK Cyber Security Council standard of competence at Principal level, progressing to Chartered.
• Active or intended audit chartership (e.g., Chartered Auditor, Chartered Cyber Security Professional).
• Lead auditor experience against ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials, defence schemes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to executives and boards.
• Mentoring other specialists; promoting audit discipline and professional judgement.
• Commitment to CPD, ethics, and professional competence.

• Lead and deliver external cyber security audit, assurance, and certification engagements using recognised audit methodologies.
• Plan, manage, and execute audits across the full audit lifecycle, including scoping, planning, fieldwork, evidence review, reporting, and follow-up.
• Act as Lead Auditor or Lead Assessor for high assurance and regulated engagements.
• Conduct evidence-based assessments of control design and operational effectiveness across people, process, technology, and third-party dependencies.
• Perform structured audit interviews, sampling, and testing activities in line with scheme or regulatory requirements.
• Identify non-conformities, weaknesses, and residual risks, and articulate their business and security impact.
• Deliver assessments and assurance activity against recognised frameworks and schemes (DCC Level 2+, Cyber Essentials, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST).
• Produce high-quality, defensible audit and certification reports; meet client and accreditation expectations.
• Act as a senior technical authority for cyber security audit and assurance within CNSI.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other cybersecurity specialists.
• Uphold independence, ethical standards, confidentiality, and conflict of interest management.
