Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Consultant to drive major projects within Property & Buildings. You will coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams, act as the Client’s main point of contact, and lead projects from inception to completion across sectors.

The role requires an architectural or engineering degree, membership of a Professional Institution, and a proven ability to lead with NEC contracts, manage stakeholders, and promote health and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience of leading complex multidisciplinary projects with a working understanding of NEC contract management, client management and stakeholder management.
• The drive to lead the design and delivery of major projects.
• Demonstrated collaborative behaviours, ethics and promote health, safety and wellbeing within the team.
• You must be eligible to achieve Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Drive and deliver on major projects and programmes.
• Lead collaborative working across WSP disciplines including any sub-consultants and project partners on projects and in the delivery of key projects.
• Aid in managing current key projects and pipeline for Lead Consultant Services, both on major projects and opportunities within P&B.
• Define the scope of, and best practice in, Lead Consultant Services for P&B major projects and identify the most effective way to deliver these services.
• Lead in approach to the development of skills and capabilities of individuals in project, contract, schedule and financial management.
• Taking a pro-active role in a team looking at new solutions as part of our digital solutions to lead projects.
• Develop a standardised approach to Lead Consultant Services on Major projects in conjunction with other parts of WSP.

A Little More About The Role...

As our business grows we are securing a significant increase in long‑term contracts for property projects across multiple sectors where we are the prime contracting entity. As a result, the development of a team of Lead Consultants is a key function for managing our WSP major multi‑disciplinary projects within property and buildings (P&B). As our projects grow in size and complexity we need Lead Consultants with experience of:

• Acting as the Client’s main point of contact.
• Co‑ordinating and managing the wider consultant team through the duration of the project from inception to completion.
• Design in a wide range of sectors, with a detailed knowledge in at least one.
• Management of the design programme and information flow across all disciplines.
• Financial and commercial controls.
• Identification and management of project risks.
• A working knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Statutory compliance including Building Regulations and CDM.

These are senior project roles, to drive and lead key design projects from inception to completion. It is about driving engagement from our teams and transforming how we work with Clients and partners to deliver our services on key projects so that we design and deliver projects that are co‑ordinated, collaborative and integrated. To support this growing portfolio of work we are looking to strengthen our capabilities in Lead Consultant Services through a number of talented individuals who specialise in this leadership role and will thrive in this type of environment.

We are looking for individuals to lead these key projects as Lead Consultants who will:

It is anticipated that the role will be a minimum of 85% utilisation on projects.

• The role will report to the head of Lead Consultant Services.
• The main office location is flexible, with some expectation to travel occasionally to regional offices as the team and workload expand.
• This is a unique role allowing the successful candidate to work on live major projects within our business unit.
