Job summary

AXA Group is seeking a Lead Construction Underwriter in the Birmingham area to drive profitable growth in Mid-Market and corporate construction segments. You will underwrite risks to maximise income while building strong broker relationships and delivering strategic underwriting decisions.

The role involves leading broker meetings, developing new business, coaching underwriters, and promoting AXA’s product range with a data-driven approach. Eligibility to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Strong trading capability and negotiation skills.
• Established relationships with brokers and construction stakeholders.
• Technical knowledge of construction classes and regulatory insurance requirements.
• Experience identifying and managing business opportunities with KPIs.
• Excellent communication and networking at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of trading relationships with a panel of brokers for profitable business.
• Develop a robust pipeline of new opportunities and ensure long-term engagement.
• Lead meetings, presentations and tender responses to portray AXA capabilities and secure new business.
• Coach and develop underwriters to improve technical and trading skills.
• Act as referral point for underwriters to improve decision quality.
• Promote AXA’s strategy and product differentiators to leverage opportunities.
