Job description

The Lead Commercial Analyst will lead a small commercial analytics team that supports the whole studio by providing analytics and insights on our membership and sales. The role will be a central expert on commercial analytics. Ensuring analytics best practices to deliver insights that drive commercial decisions.

The Lead Analyst will deliver insights, learnings and guidance to pricing, strategy and our executive team and have a significant impact on the direction of our studio. As a lead analyst they will manage two commercial analysts, developing ways of working to deliver insights that help inform and improve commercial decisions.

This role will be part of the Analytics, Data Science and Engineering (ADSE) department. ADSE is the heart of player, product, and business insights on our games. The department acts as the analytics and data hub for the studio by supporting, gathering and maintaining analytics best practice.

The person in this role is most successful when they can merge technical, commercial understanding & analytical skill to provide insights and actionable results.This is a hybrid role, with attendance at our Cambridge office twice a month.

What you'll be doing:

You will be working with the highly creative, data driven and talented individuals across the Jagex Analytics, Marketing, & Games teams to drive forward reporting.

  • Lead a small team of analysts who deliver insights that guide decisions on subscriptions, sales and pricing.
  • Drive deep, impactful learnings by working across data, proposition design and research to deliver a story driven direction based in data.
  • Develop best practice and transparent ways of working that support player value programs.
  • Manage stakeholders across the business, developing analysis and delivering insights to support their commercial decisions.
  • Grow relationships across the studio to promote a data-driven partnership
  • Partner with data engineering to manage data requirements such as schema requirements and data formats to support high-quality deliverables

What we're looking for:

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial analytics in a B2C company
  • Previous experience leading analysts while also delivering high quality insights
  • Strong communicator and excellent data storyteller
  • Ability to manage stakeholders across all levels of the business
  • Successful at driving and delivering change in a meaningful way
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or equivalent experience
  • Advanced skill in SQL
  • Familiarity with modern data architectures (AWS, Snowflake, OLAP)
  • Experience using modern data visualization tools e.g Tableau, PowerBI etc.
  • Superior attention to detail, natural curiosity, and ability to problem-solve creatively

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience in a subscriptions business
  • Familiarity with statistical languages (e.g. Python r R) and IDEs like Jupyter Notebook or PyCharm
  • Experience with quantitative techniques including regression, classification, and clustering
