Job summary

Redline UK in Dorset is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Team Leader to join our Bournemouth based Operations team in a precision engineering and manufacturing environment. This hands-on leadership role combines technical machining expertise with team management to drive production output, quality, training and continuous improvement.

You will work closely with machinists and production staff to meet targets and customer requirements safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supervising a machine shop team.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proven track record in precision manufacturing and meeting production targets.
• Knowledge of 6S, TPM and lean manufacturing is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team within the machine shop, ensuring colleagues are trained, supported and deployed effectively.
• Take responsibility for on-time delivery, productivity and quality within your area.
• Set, operate and programme machining equipment where required.
• Manage labour, machinery, tooling and production priorities effectively.
• Ensure work meets engineering drawings, specifications, procedures and quality standards.
• Support inspection and quality control processes, escalating non-conformances where required.
• Maintain high standards of 6S, housekeeping and tooling control.
• Identify and resolve machining and production problems.
• Support continuous improvement, waste reduction, cycle-time reduction and productivity initiatives.
• Work towards achieving and improving departmental KPIs and OEE performance.
• Support TPM and lean manufacturing activities.
• Promote safe working practices and compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
• Deputise for the Production Supervisor when required.
