Job summary

SR2 REC LTD is seeking a Lead Cloud Architect to steer the assessment and future-state design of a large-scale Google Cloud Platform environment within UK central government. The role welcomes experienced AWS professionals with GCP exposure and a drive to expand GCP expertise.

Responsibilities include defining target GCP architecture, governance framework, and operating model, supporting transfer of platform ownership, and guiding architecture throughout discovery and state definition.

Qualifications

• Senior cloud architect with GCP and AWS experience.
• Experience in government or regulated environments is a plus.
• Strong governance and FinOps capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the current-state assessment of the GCP estate and identify improvements.
• Define the future-state GCP landing zone, hierarchy, and governance model.
• Design enterprise-scale cloud governance, IAM and access controls.
• Define the cloud operating model including ownership and service management.
• Develop IAM strategy covering GCP Cloud Identity and Federation with Entra ID.
• Define security architecture aligned to best practices and CAF guidance.
• Design FinOps governance, billing hierarchies, and chargeback models.
• Produce an operational transition model for ownership transfer.
• Provide architectural leadership during discovery and target-state definition.
