University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a Lead Clinical Physiologist (Neurophysiology) to provide expert clinical leadership and oversee a comprehensive range of neurophysiological investigations including EEG, EMG/NCS, evoked potentials and ambulatory monitoring.

You will lead a team of Clinical Physiologists, drive service development and ensure governance and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Provide, manage, co-ordinate and be responsible for an efficient Neurophysiological diagnostics service
• Ensure best practice within budgetary constraints with auditing and benchmarking to national standards
• Recruit and manage staffing to provide a suitable workforce
• Co-ordinate and support audit and research activities of Clinical Physiologists
• Collaborate with Doctors, GP's and other health care providers to meet service needs
• Provide complex, specialist Neurophysiology service to patients of all ages with diverse neurological/psychiatric conditions
• Develop and train student Clinical Physiologists within the department
• Perform peripheral nerve conduction clinics with highly specialised reports
• Advise clinicians on clinical and operational issues pertaining to neurophysiology
• Ensure adherence to professional and mandatory policies and guidelines

Job description

The Lead Clinical Physiologist (Neurophysiology) is responsible for providing expert clinical leadership and specialist neurophysiological services, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. The post holder will undertake and oversee a comprehensive range of complex neurophysiological investigations, including EEG, EMG/NCS, evoked potentials, and ambulatory monitoring, supporting the diagnosis and management of neurological disorders. The role includes operational and professional leadership of the Neurophysiology service, ensuring compliance with national standards, professional guidelines, and clinical governance requirements. The post holder will lead and support a team of Clinical Physiologists and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, education, research, and service development.

• Provide, manage, co-ordinate and be responsible for an efficient Neurophysiological diagnostics service
• Ensure that best practise is achieved within budgetary constraints with constant review, auditing and bench marking to national standards and meet all BSCN, ANS and Health Care Science standards.
• Recruit and manage the staffing to provide a suitable workforce for that to be achieved.
• Co-ordinate and support audit and research activities of Clinical Physiologists within the department
• To work closely and collaboratively with the Doctors and Medical Head of Service, GP's and a range of other health care providers on a day to day basis to ensure that the service needs are met.
• Provide complex, specialist Clinical Neurophysiology service to patients of all ages from a range of specialties with a wide range of medical disorders including those which may be neurological and/or psychiatric and many others.
• Responsible for the development and training of student Clinical Physiologists within the department.
• Perform peripheral nerve conduction clinics with reports to a highly specialised level.
• Provide advice to clinicians on clinical and operational issues pertaining to neurophysiology.
• To ensure adherence of all staff to all professional and mandatory policies and guidelines.
