Job summary

NRL is seeking an experienced Lead Civil Engineer in Warrington to oversee complex civil design and delivery on a major infrastructure programme within the nuclear sector. You will lead a multidisciplinary design team, ensure technical excellence, and coordinate with CS&A Responsible Engineer and Area Engineering Manager.

• Proven civil design experience across highways, drainage, below-ground services, fencing, hardstanding and earthworks.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams and delivering projects on time.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and working in secure environments.
• Experience on Sellafield projects is essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee civil design delivery in collaboration with project leaders.
• Lead the civil design team and represent civil discipline in meetings.
• Provide technical direction, assurance for design packages, review deliverables.
• Oversee development of 3D models and 2D drawings ensuring safe, compliant designs.
• Fulfil the role of Designer under CDM Regulations.

This role is ideal for a technically strong civil engineer with leadership experience who enjoys guiding design teams, managing multidisciplinary coordination, and maintaining high engineering standards within a secure environment. **Location and Working Pattern** * Based in Warrington with hybrid working.* Initial 12‐month contract (inside IR35).**Client Overview** Our client provides engineering design and delivery expertise across regulated industries, including nuclear, defence and major infrastructure, helping to deliver safe and sustainable facilities for the future. **Responsibilities** * Plan and oversee delivery of the civil design scope in collaboration with the CS&A Responsible Engineer and Area Engineering Manager.* Lead and coordinate the Civil team of engineers and designers, acting as the principal civil discipline representative at project and stakeholder meetings.* Provide technical direction, management and assurance for design packages, and review and accept deliverables on behalf of the project.* Oversee development of 3D models and 2D AutoCAD drawings, ensuring production of safe, compliant and fit‐for‐purpose designs through each design stage.* Fulfil the role of Designer under the CDM Regulations.**Must‐have Requirements** * Civil or structural engineering degree; Chartered Engineer status preferred.* Proven experience across civil design – including highways, drainage, below‐ground services, fencing, hardstanding and earthworks.* Competent user of civil design tools such as Infodrainage, Civils 3D and AutoCAD.* Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing project delivery within multi‐disciplinary environments.* Working knowledge of CDM Regulations.* Previous experience on Sellafield projects is essential.**Nice‐to‐have Skills** * Background in nuclear or other complex industrial sectors.* Experience supporting and mentoring less‐experienced engineers and designers.**Due to the nature of this role being on a national security facility, we can only accommodate applications from UK Nationals.** **Apply Now** If this role matches your experience, apply now or send your CV to our recruitment team today.
