Job summary

KBR, Inc in Plymouth, Devonport is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer to provide assurance of civil and structural engineering across project delivery. You will guide concept design, support contractor evaluation, and resolve technical queries to keep projects on track.

You will lead risk management in design phases, review drawings and specs, and oversee RFIs while ensuring compliance with design intent, safety, and environmental standards.

This includes advising on concept design development, supporting contractor design evaluation and selection, and leading the resolution of technical queries.**What You’ll Be Doing**The role involves leading the identification and management of risks within concept and detailed design, including reviewing specifications, project drawings, and documentation to ensure alignment with standards and requirements. It oversees engineering support activities, optioneering, and design development, while managing technical queries and Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve uncertainties and maintain project progress.The postholder provides technical oversight across construction, commissioning, and decommissioning activities, ensuring compliance with design intent, regulatory requirements, and quality, safety, and environmental standards. The role also includes supervising contractor methodologies, supporting stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, and contributing to team development and training within their area of expertise to enable effective and efficient project delivery.**What You’ll Bring****Qualifications & Experience****Essential*** Proven experience leading civil/structural engineering delivery and design assurance on complex projects* Strong track record in engineering lifecycle management and stakeholder engagement across project phases* Experience within the civil engineering sector* Degree-qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (or equivalent experience) and Chartered Engineer status**Location**Devonport - the role is Hybrid where 3 days per week will be spent on site.**Security Requirements**SC Clearance*Due to the secure nature of this project, restrictions in relation to UK residency and nationality will apply.*KBR Benefits & More**Belong.
