Job summary

Marie Curie Hospice Edinburgh is seeking a skilled Chef to join the catering team on a fixed-term contract until August 2027. You will prepare high-quality meals for patients, staff, volunteers and visitors, while upholding stringent food safety, hygiene and presentation standards.

You will design menus, supervise Catering Assistants in the head chef's absence, assist with staff rotas, recruitment and supplier ordering. This role supports compassionate care and teamwork across the unit.

Qualifications

• Requires City & Guilds 706/1/706/2 or Level 2 NVQ in Food Production and Cooking (or equivalent).
• Basic food hygiene certificate is required.
• Relevant catering experience is essential.
• Experience supervising staff in the absence of the Head Chef is desirable.
• High levels of Health and Safety awareness are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality, nutritious meals for patients, staff, volunteers and visitors.
• Uphold food safety, hygiene and presentation standards.
• Design and deliver varied menus.
• Assist Head Chef in supervising Catering Assistants and rotas.
• Help recruit junior team members and manage supplier selection and ordering.
