Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is seeking a Lead C++ Software Engineer to drive the technical strategy for FX engineering products. You will lead design, architecture and delivery, collaborating with global teams to solve complex, AI‑driven challenges and deliver robust software solutions.

The role requires strong C++ skills, knowledge of modern tooling and API ecosystems, and experience with cross-domain collaboration, standards, and best practices in a fast-paced financial technology

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C++ and software development experience.
• Experience in at least 3 of REST/WebSocket, Kafka, SQL, Redis, Azure PaaS, Terraform/Helm or GitLab CI (or AWS equivalents).
• Experience or familiarity with financial messaging protocols, particularly FIX, is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert, advising on design, development, and implementation.
• Deliver high-quality solutions through expert coding and tooling.
• Own workload while contributing to an open, inclusive team culture.
• Serve as a domain point of contact with deep expertise and awareness of cross-domain dependencies.
• Align work to technology/domain strategy and support its delivery; contribute to strategy where relevant.
• Build understanding of the market and LSEG's commercial position.
• Lead projects autonomously, delegating where needed and supporting team delivery.
• Partner with architects to define and implement solutions.
• Lead design and planning for Epics, breaking them into stories with Product and QA.
• Apply and adapt engineering patterns to deliver robust solutions.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.
• Continuously develop technical and industry expertise (e.g. certifications, qualifications).
