Job summary

STRABAG UK is seeking an experienced Senior Bid Writer to lead the writing and coordination of high-value tenders across major civil engineering and infrastructure projects in the UK. The role partners with Pre-Construction and SMEs to craft compelling narratives and winning submissions.

Qualifications

• Advanced bid writing experience in construction or infrastructure.
• Lead answer planning, storyboarding and response structure for high-value tenders.
• Translate complex engineering data into clear, compliant text.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Independent milestone management and timely draft delivery.
• Coach mid-level writers and upskill the bidding team.
• Excellent written English and editing precision.
• APMP Foundation certification or equivalent.
• Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction or English.
• Professional membership in CIOB/ICE/ICES/RICS/APM.
• APMP Practitioner certification or working towards it.
• Experience across major transport, tunnelling, energy or utilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of high-scoring responses for complex tenders.
• Shape narrative and messaging from opportunity launch to submission.
• Synthesize SME inputs into a single customer voice and draft critical sections.
• Act as lead editorial authority, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Own writing outputs against internal milestones with Bid Managers.
• Lead technical workshops with SMEs to extract proof points.
• Advise on response structures, layout logic and best practice.
• Mentor bid writers and develop the bidding team.
• Drive Bid Team process improvements and update evidence libraries.
