Job summary

GAIL’s Bread in Milton Keynes is seeking a Head Baker who can lead by example and train others to deliver freshly baked bread and cakes to the highest standards. You will set the tone for the team, balance production planning with hands-on baking, and act as a positive role model across the bakery floor.

You’ll manage early shifts, oversee proving and baking, maintain food hygiene compliance, and support development programmes to rise with GAIL’s.

Qualifications

• Experience as a head baker or in a leadership role in a bakery.
• Ability to train and develop others.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Proof and bake items for displays to high standards.
• Ensure products meet quality and food safety standards.
• Lead kitchen team and manage early shifts (around 5:30am).
• Maintain knowledge of recipes and products.
