Job summary

Leidos in Wickford, UK is seeking a Senior Tooling Design Engineer to lead the design and development of tooling, fixtures and equipment for manufacturing. You will collaborate with in-house and cross-functional teams to ensure quality, efficiency and safety, with the opportunity to support multiple sectors.

You will head a UK/India engineering team, manage project priorities with the Engineering Manager, and be ready to travel to customer sites as required while maintaining strict design output

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Automotive Tooling or Mechanical Handling.
• Manufacturing Automation methods and processes.
• Value for money and current market value.
• Supplier base knowledge.
• Understanding of project costs - design, management, manufacture, installation etc.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design team and drive tooling designs, fixtures and equipment.
• Manage UK/Indian engineers and subcontract labour through the design process.
• Agree project deliverables and priorities with Engineering Manager.
• Produce operation and maintenance manuals.
• Provide out of hours support as required.
• Travel to UK/global sites as needed and attend reviews.
