What is the Role:

The Group Internal Audit Function is an independent, third line of defence function with primary responsibility to the Group’s Board of Directors through the Board Audit Committee. GIA assists the Board of Directors in carrying out its corporate governance responsibilities by providing an independent view on the key risks facing the Group, and on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system of governance, risk management and internal control in managing these risks.

The role is positioned within the GIA Credit team where we undertake reasonable and independent assurance on the management of Credit Risk and its associated control environment across the First and Second Lines of Defence. GIA is seeking an ambitious and experienced Credit professional to join the Credit Team to assist in the preparation and delivery of the risk‑based audit plan. Leading Credit audits from beginning to end, the role includes definition of audit scope, test strategy, execution of testing and reporting, providing independent assurance over the Bank’s operations and effectiveness of internal controls. Additionally, the role will focus on assessing the implementation of agreed actions with the business areas and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Lead engagement with the various stakeholders in the end‑to‑end audit process.
  • Undertake risk‑based Credit audit work across several business areas, spanning three geographies and regulatory environments.
  • Draft audit documents and reports, present to Group Internal Audit Senior Management, complete and oversee audit testing, and engage with audit stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation, planning and supervision of the delivery of the Group’s risk‑based audit plan.
  • Review and challenge actions to further strengthen internal Credit policies and procedures.
  • Review the work of others, complete performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching to staff in relation to their performance.
What You Will Bring:
  • Proven experience in Credit Risk management (first or second line), and/or Assurance.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in financial services and/or audit, with a third‑level qualification (preferably in audit, accountancy, risk, or compliance).
  • Knowledge and experience of risk management methodologies and frameworks, particularly those relevant to Credit Risk and the regulatory environment in banking.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex credit cases, including the components of credit applications and key credit management judgements across the credit lifecycle (origination and management).
  • Technical understanding of credit management actions and their impact on key Credit Risk data, including Expected Credit Losses (ECL), Significant Increase in Credit Risk (SICR), modelled outputs, and Capital Requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to lead end‑to‑end audit processes and collaborate effectively across business areas.
  • Experience supervising and coaching staff, including performance reviews.
