Job summary

Prospero Integrated in the Midlands is seeking a Lead AV Engineer to take ownership of on-site AV installation projects and lead the installation team. You will mentor junior engineers, read schematics, and ensure high-quality installations across lecture theatres and commercial AV environments.

You will survey sites, identify issues early, commission systems, and work closely with project managers, site managers and clients to deliver seamless AV solutions with minimal snagging.

Qualifications

• Experience leading AV installation projects and on-site teams.
• Strong ability to read AV schematics, rack layouts and installation drawings.
• Proven ability to conduct site surveys and pre-empt installation risks.
• Experience commissioning and testing AV systems to high standards.
• Excellent communication with project managers, site managers and clients.

Job description

My client are a UK based leading provider of Audio Visual and Video Conferencing solutions - primarily across the Education sector. They are going through a sustained period of growth and now have a requirement for a Lead AV Engineer to be based in the Midlands. The Lead Engineer will take ownership of AV installation projects on site, leading the installation team, maintaining installation quality, mentoring the junior engineer and acting as the primary technical point of contact for site issues.

This role requires someone who can deliver projects independently while maintaining excellent communication with project managers, site managers and client representatives.

Essentials:

• Leading AV installation projects.
• Installing lecture theatres, teaching spaces or other commercial AV environments.
• Supervising and mentoring junior engineers.
• Reading and interpreting AV schematics, rack layouts and installation drawings.
• Carrying out site surveys and identifying installation issues before they become project risks.
• Installing, terminating and testing AV systems to a high standard.
• Working on equipment racks.
• Commissioning commercial AV systems.
• Troubleshooting and resolving installation issues independently.
• Communicating effectively with project managers, site managers and other trades.
• Delivering high-quality installations with minimal snagging.

Technical Knowledge

A strong understanding of:

• Video distribution
• Audio systems and DSP
• Projection and display technologies
• AV over IP
• Basic networking
• Control systems (Crestron, Extron or equivalent)

Desirable Skills

• Hands on commissioning or programming experience.
• Offsite rack build experience.
• LED wall installation experience.
• Relevant AV H&S certificates such as IPAF &PASMA
