- Advise FCA investigation teams on seeking assistance abroad and using evidence obtained abroad in civil, criminal and regulatory investigations and proceedings
- Perform initial reviews of assistance requests from overseas regulators
- Identify key legal issues and relevant FCA stakeholders for overseas requests
- Manage and progress junior associates’ work and sign off key decisions concerning legal powers
- Contribute to know-how, guidance documents and training across the FCA
- Develop specialist expertise in agreed areas and manage legal risks
- Manage relationships with key international partners and internal stakeholders
- Develop strategies for effective international engagement, including arranging visits
- Represent Enforcement/Legal Division to senior managers and internationally
- Advance multiple complex legal projects across Law and International’s remit
- Work on wider Law, Policy and International Department projects when needed
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer, Solicitor or Barrister of England and Wales or international equivalent
- Significant post-qualification experience in contentious financial services or other regulatory investigations or proceedings, financial services or public law advisory work, international cooperation, or complex international investigations
- Ability to apply sound principled legal and evidential analysis to novel situations and think strategically
- Well-developed relationship management skills
- Robust, self-motivated and a good team player
- Ability to perform effectively in demanding situations and meet deadlines
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Real interest in international work, cross-border cooperation and enforcement policy
