Job summary

The University of Salford is seeking a Project Archivist to lead the cataloguing of the Bridgewater Estates Archive, applying ISAD(G) standards and QA AI-generated metadata to enhance discovery and access.

You will work with academics, researchers and community partners to develop an online searchable catalogue, deliver public engagement activities, and support teaching and public engagement through access to local history.

Qualifications

• Experience in cataloguing and archives management.
• Experience with AI-assisted metadata in archives.
• Engagement with researchers, students, community partners and creative practitioners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the cataloguing of the Bridgewater Estates Archive, applying ISAD(G) standards, collaborating with academic colleagues to develop an online catalogue, and quality assuring AI-generated metadata to enhance discovery and access.
• Apply professional archives and collections care for preservation needs and implement rehousing/repackaging solutions.
• Develop and deliver public engagement activities, including a website, talks and learning resources that connect diverse audiences with the collection.
• Collaborate with academics, researchers, community partners, students and creative practitioners to support workshops that reinterpret the collection in new ways.
• Manage project delivery and reporting, demonstrating strong organisational skills, initiative and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
