Job summary

UCB S.A. is seeking a Principal Computational Methodologist to join the Advanced Methods and Data Science team within Biometrics and Data Science, Hybrid-first and based in the UK, Belgium, or US locations.

You will lead advanced AI and ML initiatives that support clinical development, biomarker discovery, and operational efficiency. You will design, validate, and deploy models addressing regulatory and scientific needs, mentor peers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver

Qualifications

• PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics, Mathematics, or related field.
• Industry pharma or regulated data environment experience preferred.
• Proficient in Python or R and can guide others in coding.
• Knowledge of supervised/unsupervised/Bayesian/deep learning methods.
• Experience with ML infrastructure, reproducible research, Linux/HPC, software or platform development.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI/ML projects addressing clinical development, biomarkers, operational, and decision-support needs.
• Design, build, test, and refine deep learning models for text, graphs, biological sequences, and clinical data.
• Develop generative AI applications using foundation models, pre-trained models, and large language models.
• Run rigorous, reproducible AI experiments on internal and public datasets to generate publishable scientific results.
• Partner with engineering teams to package methods into applications, platforms, and scalable validated solutions.
• Mentor colleagues, share knowledge, and represent the team through publications, presentations, and external collaborations.
