Responsibilities

• Oversee daily laundry operations: washing, drying, pressing, folding, and distribution of hotel and guest laundry.
• Ensure linen, uniforms, and guest garments are handled per Fairmont and Accor quality and care standards.
• Monitor workflow, turnaround times, and productivity to support efficiency.
• Conduct regular quality checks to ensure cleanliness and fabric care standards.
• Supervise, train, and coach laundry attendants; assign daily tasks and ensure coverage.
• Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to team members; promote a safe working environment.
• Order and monitor laundry supplies; maintain equipment; report malfunctions and coordinate repairs with Engineering.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and chemical handling procedures.
• Respond promptly to guest inquiries related to laundry services; work with Front Office and Housekeeping to resolve issues.
• Collaborate with Housekeeping leadership to align laundry with room turnover and operational priorities; maintain records.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts; physical ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks.

Job description

We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Southampton as our new Laundry Supervisor. Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the Laundry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laundry department at Fairmont Southampton. This role ensures that all hotel and guest laundry is processed efficiently and to the highest quality standards in accordance with Fairmont and Accor brand expectations. The Laundry Supervisor leads and supports the laundry team, maintains equipment and supply standards, ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, and responds professionally to guest inquiries related to laundry services. This position plays a key role in supporting overall housekeeping operations and guest satisfaction.

Laundry Operations & Quality Standards

Oversee daily laundry operations, including washing, drying, pressing, folding, and timely distribution of hotel and guest laundry. Ensure all linen, uniforms, and guest garments are handled and processed according to Fairmont and Accor quality and care standards. Monitor workflow, turnaround times, and productivity to support operational efficiency. Conduct regular quality checks to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and fabric care standards are consistently met.

Team Leadership & Supervision

Supervise, train, and support laundry attendants to ensure consistent performance and adherence to procedures. Assign daily tasks and responsibilities, ensuring appropriate coverage and workload distribution. Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback to team members. Promote a positive, professional, and safety-focused working environment.

Supplies, Equipment & Safety

Order, monitor, and maintain appropriate levels of laundry supplies, including detergents, chemicals, and consumables. Ensure laundry equipment is operated correctly and maintained in a clean, safe, and efficient condition. Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with Engineering for timely repairs and preventative maintenance. Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and chemical handling procedures at all times.

Guest Service & Communication

Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns related to laundry services. Work closely with Front Office and Housekeeping teams to resolve guest issues efficiently and maintain service standards. Support service recovery efforts when required to enhance guest satisfaction.

Collaboration & Administrative Support

Work closely with Housekeeping leadership to align laundry operations with room turnover and operational priorities. Maintain accurate records related to laundry operations, supplies, and departmental needs. Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and internal controls. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned to support housekeeping and hotel operations.

Circumstances

Flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs. Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform repetitive laundry tasks throughout the shift.
