As a Landfill Aftercare & Maintenance Technician you’ll be pushing for innovative solutions to create a more sustainable future for all. We know that everyone here at Veolia can help us work alongside our communities, look after the environment, and contribute to our inclusive culture.
Conduct environmental monitoring and sampling according to schedules, manage results reporting, and address non-conformances with action/control levels and permit limits. Collect, accurately log, and maintain data, records, and reports to ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements. Perform hands-on site inspections and sample collection to verify compliance with permit conditions, legislation, and company procedures. Collaborate with all departments to develop best practices, address non-conformances, and maintain documented evidence for Environmental Permit conditions. Promote positive safety culture through leadership, incident reporting, and maintaining awareness of permits, UK environmental legislation, and regulatory guidance. Ensure environmental monitoring and control infrastructure (gas and leachate collection systems) are properly maintained and coordinate with third-party contractors. Assess monitoring results and laboratory data against permitted limits, manage gas infrastructure balancing, and report defects in environmental systems. Operate and optimize leachate treatment plant and landfill gas control systems (including flare), sample waste streams, manage analysis results, and ensure discharge consent compliance.
