Job summary

Dalcour Maclaren is looking for a Land Surveyor to travel nationwide, undertake surveys, and set out works for DM and clients using Total Station, Laser Scanning, GNSS and related equipment.

You will process data, produce maps and plans, and collaborate with the team to inform client advice and support a range of projects with timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • Experience with land surveying on diverse sites across the country.
  • Ability to process survey data following departmental best practice.
  • Ability to produce maps and plans for fast-paced projects, on time and within budget.
  • Experience liaising with Land Registry, Ordnance Survey, Environment Agency or Local Authorities.
  • Good calibration and maintenance practices for survey equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to sites across the country to undertake surveys and set out works for DM and clients.
  • Process survey data and contribute to data quality control.
  • Produce maps and plans to support various projects, meeting timelines and budgets.
  • Obtain and analyse data from Land Registry, Ordnance Survey, Environment Agency and utilities.
  • Maintain equipment calibration and DM policies.

Job description

As a Land Surveyor you will
  • Travel to a variety of sites across the country to undertake surveys, collect data and set out works on behalf of DM and their clients, using Total Station, Laser Scanning, handheld GNSS, and Electromagnetic Location equipment.
  • Take a proactive approach to processing survey data in line with departmental best practice.
  • Produce maps and plans in support of a wide range of fast paced projects, on time and within budget to maintain company standard.
  • Working in collaboration with the team, obtain, manage and analyse data from range of sources including the Land Registry, Ordnance Survey, Environment Agency, Local Authorities and Utility companies to best inform our advice and service to clients.
  • Be responsible in the maintenance and calibration procedures of the survey equipment and organisational policies and requirements.
  • Work independently on projects and requests, ensuring requirements and objectives are met, building positive relationships and taking ownership of the standard of work.
  • Be commercially aware, maintain good records, including meeting notes, expense claims and comprehensive file updates and records of activities to provide regular client updates.
  • Be able to accurately assess the time requirements of a job and be confident in advising clients and surveyors.
  • Assist the development of more junior members of staff by mentoring, providing feedback and participating in progress reviews where appropriate.
  • Be proactive in engaging and communicating with other sectors to ensure Geomatics requests are completed efficiently.
The successful candidate will
  • Desirable but not essential to have a RICS or TSA qualification.
  • Have a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site and project locations.
  • Experience using Trimble hardware or software.
  • Understanding and completion of topographical surveys.
  • Have the ability to manage a large amount of both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Have great IT skills.
