Job summary

Hextra limited is seeking a Land Surveyor to work independently across topographical, measured building and setting-out surveys, using innovative technology and office data processing to deliver high-quality results.

You will mentor less experienced team members on site and in the office, and contribute to multi-disciplined projects. The role is full-time with standard hours; overtime and weekend work may be required as survey sites vary.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in the surveying industry.
  • Experience completing topographical surveys of varying scale independently.
  • Measured building surveys using laser scanners or traditional methods independently.
  • Experience processing raw survey data and CAD data to a high standard.
  • Strong communication skills and professional, approachable manner.
  • Excellent health and safety awareness in civil engineering contexts.
  • Long-term career interest with Hextra Limited.
  • GCSEs including Maths and English at grade C/4 or higher.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Able to commute to various sites.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Complete topographical surveys, of various scale and complexity, independently to a high standard.
  • Complete measured building surveys, of various scale and complexity, independently to a high standard.
  • Take the lead on large and complex surveying projects, working with team members of various technical ability and experience, to complete the project to a high standard.
  • Organise and provide concise instructions, guidance and direction, to multiple teams on large and complex survey projects.
  • Work effectively on projects with trainee, junior and survey technician level staff, assisting with their development by providing practical experience onsite and office work.
  • Process multi data sets from various instrumentation to a high working standard, including topographical and measured building data.
  • Contribute effectively to the smooth running of projects with minimum supervision to achieve agreed goals.
  • Maintaining the instrumentation to a high working standard and ensuring its fit for purpose.
  • Undertake initial site inspections and complete dynamic risk assessments when attending survey sites, reporting any safety issues.

Job description

As a Land surveyor at Hextra limited, you will work independently completing a full range of small to large scale topographical, measured building and setting out surveys, using innovative technology and processing data in the office to a high working standard. You will be confident working on multi-disciplined survey projects, and will have a competent understanding of various surveying methods and data capture.

You will also share your expertise and knowledge with less experienced team members to assist their development, by providing practical experience onsite and office-based work.

This is a full-time role with office hours of Monday to Friday from 9.00 – 5.30, however site hours will vary so overtime and occasional weekend working will be required.

We will also consider highly experienced surveyors looking to take the next steps towards Senior Surveyor level or current Senior Surveyors.

  • Undertake initial site inspections and complete dynamic risk assessments when attending survey sites, reporting any safety issues to the wider surveying team or to management
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in the surveying industry (3+ years).
  • Previous experience completing small to large scale topographical surveys, of various complexities, independently
  • Previous experience completing measured building surveys, of various scales or complexities, with laser scanners and/or traditional methods independently
  • Experience processing raw survey data and CAD data to a high working standard
  • Professional and approachable manner with excellent communication skills
  • Excellent understanding of the importance of health and safety at work in the context of the civil engineering industry and Survey Solutions
  • Passionate about pursuing a long-term career with Hextra Limited
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE's including Maths & English to Grade C level/ Grade 4
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Able to commute to our various sites
