Job summary

In Focus Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Ladieswear Designer in the Manchester area. You will work across multi-product and print for apparel, translating creative direction into elevated, wearable pieces that reflect the brand aesthetic.

You will collaborate with the in-house creative team to develop seasonal collections from concept through to final production, managing sketches, tech packs, and specifications. This role is office-based and full-time.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in fashion or textile design or related field.
• 2–3+ years of industry experience in fashion design or product development.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and textiles.

Responsibilities

The Role

As a Ladieswear Designer, you will be working across multi-product and print for apparel.

You will collaborate with their in-house creative team to develop seasonal collections from concept through to final production. You will play a key role in translating creative direction into elevated, wearable pieces that reflect the aesthetic and resonate with their customers.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field
• 2-3+ years of industry experience in fashion design or product development

Design & Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and textiles
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Ability to develop sketches, tech packs, and detailed design specifications
• Knowledge of pattern making and production processes

Creative Direction

• Strong design sensibility with a refined understanding of silhouette, colour, and trend
• Ability to create original designs aligned with a defined brand aesthetic
• Strong attention to detail, finish, and quality

Industry Understanding

• Awareness of fashion trends, materials, and market direction
• Understanding of sourcing, costing, and manufacturing workflows
• Confident working with production teams, tailors, and suppliers
• Strong communication and ability to present and refine ideas
• Open to feedback with a collaborative mindset

Time Management

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Highly organised and comfortable working independently (especially in part-time capacity)

Design & Technical Experience

• Strong understanding of garment fit, balance, and proportion
• Ability to assess fit samples and communicate technical fit comments
• Experience managing the fit process from sampling through to production approval
