Job summary

GAP Group Ltd. is seeking a proactive Labourer to join our Plant & Tools division at Middlesbrough depot.

You will help keep the workshop and yard organized, ensure safety standards, and prepare plant equipment for hire while supporting the wider team across construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors. You’ll work hands-on in a busy depot environment with real career progression, a strong team ethos, and opportunities to develop skills such as equipment prep, fuel logging and safe

Qualifications

  • Previous labourer experience in a hire depot or yard is desirable.
  • Able to work well in a team and support colleagues.
  • Capable of working independently with initiative in a busy setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the workshop and yard clean, tidy and hazard-free.
  • Clean equipment and store it in an orderly fashion.
  • Quality-check equipment before it leaves the depot to ensure it is hire-ready.
  • Re-fuel plant and machinery, update fuel logs accurately.
  • Assist with general workshop duties as required.
  • Load, deliver and collect hire equipment to/from customer sites safely and professionally.

As a Labourer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our depot runs smoothly and safely. You’ll maintain a clean and hazard‑free workshop and yard, prepare plant equipment for hire, and support the wider team to deliver exceptional service to our customers across construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

This is a hands‑on role offering real career progression in a company that invests in its people.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Keeping the workshop and yard clean, tidy, and hazard‑free
  • Cleaning equipment and storing it in an orderly fashion
  • Quality‑checking equipment before it leaves the depot to ensure it is hire‑ready
  • Re‑fueling plant and machinery, accurately updating fuel logs
  • Assisting with general workshop duties as required
  • Loading, delivering and collecting hire equipment to and from customer sites in a safe, timely and professional manner, ensuring all relevant checks and associated administration are completed accurately
About You

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience in a labourer role, ideally within a hire depot or yard environment
  • Strong team player with a willingness to support colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative in a busy environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
  • Driving licence required; a CSCS card and/or forklift licence are advantageous
