Job summary

Workshop Recruitment in Portsmouth is seeking a reliable Labourer with 2–5 years' experience in construction to support responsive repairs, maintenance and void works.

You will work alongside Groundworkers and Roofers, ensure safety on site, hold a UK driving licence, and be prepared for a DBS check; benefits include 34 days' annual leave, pension, life insurance and health & wellbeing support. A company vehicle is not provided; you must arrange transport.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years’ experience as Labourer in construction.
• Practical understanding of common construction methods and materials.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Work effectively as part of a repairs and maintenance team.
• Follow instructions accurately and work safely on site.
• Be reliable, practical and willing to support different trades.
• CSCS card preferred.
• Willing to complete a DBS check before starting.

Responsibilities

• Support Groundworkers with fencing, drainage, concrete repairs and paving.
• Assist Roofers with pitched and flat roof repair works.
• Provide general labouring support to tradespeople across maintenance projects.
• Clear work areas and collect waste materials safely.
• Transport waste materials to approved waste transfer stations when required.
• Handle and move materials, tools and equipment around site.
• Follow safe working practices and site health and safety procedures.
• Support wider maintenance contracts when operational demand requires.

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Labourer with a strong understanding of construction methods and at least 2 years' experience working on building or maintenance projects?

A well-established property maintenance and construction business is looking for a reliable Labourer to support responsive repairs, routine maintenance and void property works across Portsmouth.

This is a varied, hands-on role working alongside Groundworkers, Roofers and other trades. As a Labourer, you will support repair and maintenance activities while helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Job Responsibilities

The successful Labourer will need to arrange their own transport to and from work, as a company vehicle is not provided. A full UK driving licence is essential in case you are required to drive a company vehicle during the working day.
