Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day‑to‑day activity on the labour suite while ensuring the safety of mothers and their babies.
  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent communication skills and sound knowledge of both low‑ and high‑risk midwifery.
  • Act as a professional role model to the wider team, setting examples to all disciplines.
  • Provide a full range of care and health education in a hospital setting performing clinical midwifery duties.
  • Act as an experienced mentor for less‑experienced midwives and student midwives.
  • Assess the full range of care needs and develop, implement and evaluate the provision of care throughout the childbirth period for women and their babies.
  • Continuously manage the allocation area, ensuring delivery of high‑standard midwifery care through effective management of staff and resources within the service.
