Job summary

Trant Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced Labour Manager to lead planning, mobilisation, and allocation of construction resources across multiple projects at a major site in Southampton.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in construction resource planning or operations management.
  • Experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, refinery, energy, or other major industrial construction sectors.
  • Strong understanding of workforce planning, mobilisation and subcontractor management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, mobilisation, and allocation of construction resources across multiple projects and disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain workforce plans to meet current and future project demands.
  • Coordinate onboarding, induction, and deployment of direct employees and subcontractor personnel.
  • Forecast labour requirements with project delivery teams and respond to changing priorities.
  • Monitor resource utilisation, productivity, and performance to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure personnel hold the required competencies, certifications, and site authorisations.
  • Support recruitment and maintain relationships with labour providers and subcontractors.
  • Produce resource reports, forecasts, and workforce metrics for senior management.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with procedures and regulations.

We are seeking an experiencedResource Operations Managerto join our delivery team on a major petrochemical refinery project. This is a key operational role responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimising construction resources across multiple projects, ensuring the right people, plant, equipment, and materials are available to deliver work safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Working in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment, you will play a vital role in maximising productivity, maintaining workforce utilisation, and supporting successful project delivery in a live, high-hazard operating environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, mobilisation, and allocationof construction resourcesacross multiple projectsand disciplines.
  • Develop and maintainworkforce plans tomeet current andfuture project demands.

What We’re Looking For

About You

You areorganised and proactive with experiencemanaging construction resourceswithin complex industrialenvironments.

You thrivein a dynamicproject setting, canmanage competing priorities, and build strongrelationships across multidisciplinaryteams.

You will ideally have:

  • Significant experience in construction resourceplanning or operationsmanagement.
  • Experience within thepetrochemical, oil & gas, refinery, energy, orother major industrialconstruction sectors.
  • Strong understanding ofworkforce planning, mobilisation, and subcontractor management.
  • Knowledge of constructiondelivery processes andproject lifecycles.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholdermanagement skills.
  • Experience using MicrosoftOffice and resourceplanning or projectmanagement systems.
  • A sound understandingof Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality(SHEQ) requirements withinhigh-hazard industries.

Relevant management orconstruction qualifications(HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent) aredesirable.

SMSTS or equivalentsite management qualificationisadvantageous.
