Job summary

A leading further education provider is seeking a Laboratory Science Technician for maternity cover until November 2026. The successful candidate will provide technical support for science courses, ensuring effective curriculum delivery and safety compliance. Responsibilities include preparing materials for practical sessions, maintaining equipment inventories, and supporting lecturers. Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of health and safety in laboratory settings.
  • Experience in providing technical support for science courses.
  • First aid qualification and ability to perform first aid duties.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials for practical sessions to ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in laboratories and prep rooms.
  • Support senior technicians and lecturers in practical lessons.
  • Update risk assessments and COSHH records for chemicals.
  • Liaise with local fire services regarding radioactive materials.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure safety and working order.
  • Attend and contribute to divisional health and safety meetings.
