Job description
Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of laboratory consumable inventory, identifying alternative products to roll out in the event of supply issues and daily consumable replenishment, utilising the site inventory system
  • Biological & chemical waste management
  • Receipt and unpacking of cell and biological samples deliveries, including temperature-sensitive and materials with special handling/storage requirements
  • Routine decontamination of incubators, water baths, class II cabinets and other equipment on site
  • Management of pipette inventory and organisation of calibration schedules
Job Summary

Avantor is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join the team based in Cambridge, UK. In this role you'll take on responsibilities of laboratory housekeeping, indirectly supporting our client's scientists.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a scientific or laboratory environment, and/or a scientific degree is not a requirement for this role! We'll consider applicants from other industries as full training is provided. Maybe you're working in logistics, hospitality or retail but have an interest in science, this could be your opportunity to transition your career into the laboratory world!
  • Education: GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent) and an interest in science
  • Experience: full training will be given, previous experience in a pharmaceutical/food manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to understand and follow Health & Safety instructions
  • Computer literate
  • Process-driven and a high level of attention to detail

This full-time, permanent position is based at our state-of-the-art facility at The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working Hours

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

The Team

You will work alongside other Laboratory Technicians, who support laboratory operations. You will belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
