Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The role requires a science degree and involves supporting laboratory operations, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality control. This position offers a contract with a pay rate of £13.08 per hour, working 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day work programme in the laboratory to agreed deadlines and quality standards.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and equipment used in the analytical processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of reagents, calibration standards and control materials in accordance with the relevant SOPs.
  • Assist in stock control to ensure adequate levels of reagents, chemicals and consumables are held in stock.
  • Ensure the laboratory is kept clean and tidy to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Assist in administration tasks such as completing record forms, spreadsheets, filing, scanning to support the laboratory.
  • Aliquot samples into analyzer racks maintaining a steady throughput.

Do you have a science degree and are interested to work within a laboratory environment? Are you interested and excited to work with a multinational organization in the medical devices industry? We have an opportunity for you as Laboratory Technician.

Job type: Contract

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Salary: £13.08 per hour

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week

Main Purpose of the Role

The position of Laboratory Technician is within the Toxicology Laboratory located at Abingdon. This role supports the preparation of samples and production of results within the analytical section of the laboratory.

Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day work programme in the laboratory to agreed deadlines and quality standards
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and equipment used in the analytical processes
  • Assist in the preparation of reagents, calibration standards and control materials in accordance with the relevant SOPs
  • Assist in stock control to ensure adequate levels of reagents, chemicals and consumables are held in stock
  • Ensure the laboratory is kept clean and tidy to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Assist in administration tasks such as completing record forms, spreadsheets, filing, scanning to support the laboratory
  • Aliquot samples into analyzer racks maintaining a steady throughput to the screening laboratory, place processed samples onto the temporary storage racks
  • Demographic entry of donor details in a fast and accurate manner
  • Clerical review of entered donor details
Qualifications
  • Appropriate science degree
  • Communication, organization, teamwork, collaboration, results-driven, accurate, reliable, efficient, data entry experience
