Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job title: Analytical Laboratory Technician

Job Type: Contract

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Start date: Subject to clearance

Duration: 12 Months

Pay rate: £19.08 per hour PAYE

Location: Salwick, Preston

Hours of work: 38.75 Hours Per Week (08:00-15:45 Monday-Friday). On site 5 days per week

Role information:

The role is Analytical Laboratory Technician, with the primary responsibility being uranium analysis of residue stream material using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) to support processing, ensuring all work complies with ISO 17025 standards.

Key skills and responsibilities:

• Strong analytical capability and accurate interpretation of results
• High attention to detail to identify deviations in sample data
• Working knowledge of GLP and ISO 17025
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation (preferably XRF but transferable skills will be considered)
• Calibration, validation, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Accurate record-keeping and documentation of methods and results
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving during testing
• Clear communication and reporting of results
• Understanding of laboratory safety procedures

Qualifications/Experience

• MUST have Science A-level with at least 5 years’ experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory

Desirable (not essential):

• Knowledge of nuclear fuel manufacturing processes
• Familiarity with LIMS
• Understanding of statistical analysis techniques
