Job summary

Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals in Dukinfield is seeking a Laboratory Chemist to join our R&D team. You will help ensure products meet high quality standards and support development of innovative construction solutions, working across Quality Control, R&D and customer sample preparation.

You'll collaborate with Production, Quality, R&D and Sales in a joined-up, practical role, maintaining safety and housekeeping, recording results, and contributing to continuous improvement and new product

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related discipline or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Experience working in a laboratory environment (Quality Control / R&D / product testing).
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accurate data recording.
• A proactive team player who can collaborate across functions and also work independently.
• A good understanding of laboratory safety procedures and housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out quality control testing on raw materials, in-process materials and finished products to ensure specifications.
• Support R&D projects by preparing, testing and evaluating new formulations and product improvements.
• Prepare, package and dispatch customer samples while maintaining records and inventory.
• Record, analyse and report laboratory results and investigate quality issues for continuous improvement.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, support calibration activities and ensure safety and housekeeping standards.

At Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals, we're looking for a Laboratory Chemist to join our R&D team, helping to ensure our products consistently meet the highest quality standards while supporting the development of innovative construction solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a laboratory professional who enjoys variety and wants to make a real impact. Working across Quality Control, Research & Development and customer sample preparation, you'll play a key role in ensuring product performance, supporting new product innovation and delivering excellent service to our customers. You'll work closely with colleagues across Production, Quality, R&D and Sales, making this a collaborative role with plenty of opportunities to learn and develop.

What we’re looking for

• A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally within Quality Control, Research & Development or product testing.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to accurately record and interpret laboratory data.
• A proactive team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues across different functions while also being able to work independently.

What you’ll be doing

• Carrying out quality control testing on raw materials, in-process materials and finished products to ensure they meet internal and customer specifications.
• Supporting Research & Development projects by preparing, testing and evaluating new formulations and product improvements.
• Preparing, packaging and dispatching customer samples while maintaining accurate records and managing sample inventory.
• Recording, analysing and reporting laboratory results, helping to investigate product quality issues and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Maintaining laboratory equipment, supporting calibration activities and ensuring laboratory safety and housekeeping standards are consistently achieved.
