Responsibilities

  • Assist the laboratory in stocking up workstations.
  • Work aseptically and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Prepare supplement broths and media.
  • Organize stock rooms and maintain stock rotation.
  • Knowledge of disinfectants and daily preparation.
  • Remove waste from the laboratory and maintain hygiene.
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Carry out reasonable tasks as designated by the manager.
  • Help manage deliveries and consumption items.

Job description

Please note this is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 7.5 hours per day flexibly between 08:00 - 20:00.

Job Overview

The purpose of this post is to work within a fast-paced Food Testing laboratory to maintain a clean hygienic working environment within the Ipswich Laboratory continuous stock control for all working stations for the laboratory to aid with smooth sample processing.

No laboratory experience required full training will be provided.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist the laboratory in stocking up individual workstations to assist in achieving the optimum production from the laboratory.
  • Work aseptically and wear appropriate PPE when in the laboratory.
  • Prepare supplement broths medias and dry pre-poured media ready for use in the laboratory.
  • Organisation of stock rooms and help maintain stock rotation.
  • Have knowledge of disinfectants and make up daily for in laboratory use.
  • Removal of waste from the laboratory throughout the day and maintenance of the hygiene of the internal bins and waste system.
  • To be familiar with relevant health and safety legislation and to ensure that all relevant hazard signs are used when appropriate.
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks as designated by your line manager.
  • Help manage deliveries to the business to ensure all incoming goods and consumable items are dealt with promptly
Qualifications
  • 5 or more GCSEs
  • Experience in working in part of a team
  • Good organisation and time management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to self-motivate
