Role Overview

GSK are looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join the team in Barnard Castle. This person will perform analytical testing to support laboratory operations and help ensure products meet the highest quality and compliance standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience who enjoys working in a regulated environment, solving problems, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing laboratory analyses to support business requirements.
  • Recording and managing data using company systems.
  • Reviewing colleagues' work for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with GxP and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Performing equipment performance checks and calibration activities.
  • Creating, reviewing, and updating laboratory documentation.
  • Supporting audits, safety inspections, 5S activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigating analytical issues, atypical results, and equipment‑related problems.
  • Prioritising workloads to ensure testing is completed within agreed timelines.
  • Training and coaching colleagues where required.
Minimum Skills & Qualifications
  • An HNC qualification in a scientific discipline, or at least 2 years' experience working in a GxP laboratory environment.
  • Experience working within a regulated laboratory setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to manage priorities and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and compliance.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications

Experience using some of the following systems would be beneficial:

  • LIMS
  • SAP
  • Chromatography Data Systems (CDS)
  • Electronic documentation systems
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Statistical data systems
Working Environment

This role is based within a laboratory environment and will require the use of PPE, including laboratory coats, safety glasses, and safety footwear. The position may involve the handling of hazardous, flammable, toxic, or explosive materials in accordance with established safety procedures.
