Job summary

IQVIA Laboratories in Livingston, Scotland, is seeking an entry‑level Laboratory Assistant to provide administrative and technical support within the lab. The role involves maintaining glassware, disinfecting benches and equipment, and storing materials, with opportunities to perform routine equipment maintenance.

No degree is required; 0–6 months of relevant experience is acceptable. Applicants must be within commuting distance of Livingston; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of practices and principles used in the laboratory.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.
• Basic knowledge of sterilization and decontamination procedures and hazardous waste management.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and technical support to the lab.
• Maintain glassware for the laboratory, washes, rinses, dries, distributes and stores glassware such as test tubes, beakers, flasks and cylinder.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas including disinfecting workbenches, materials, equipment and other laboratory areas.
• May conduct routine equipment maintenance.
• Responsible for tube labelling and preparation.
• Facilitates post-analysis storage and sample banking.
