The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Assistant to join our team of dedicated scientists working in an IVF laboratory setting. Full training will be provided by our experienced embryologists utilising the TFP Training Scheme framework. The role will involve a mix of practical laboratory tasks and administrative duties along with quality control and patient communication.

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week – weekend rotation will be required at approximately a 1:4 ratio.

The Location

Oxford Fertility was established in 1992 and is one of the UK’s longest standing and largest IVF clinics. Due to the passion, expertise and reputation of our team the clinic has grown into a leading fertility clinic and offers a full suite of treatment and diagnostic services including PGT. Providing treatment to both NHS and private patients, Oxford Fertility performs approximately 1,000 fresh cycles and 1,000 frozen cycles per year. Conveniently located in a business park situated on the outskirts of Oxford close to junction 8a of the M40 there is ample free parking for patients and staff around the building. Our state‑of‑the‑art laboratory was purpose built in 2010 and is equipped with the latest equipment and monitoring systems that support us in achieving excellent outcome KPIs. Oxford Fertility also has a 5/5 inspection rating from the HFEA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of culture dishes and data entry
  • Semen analysis / preparation witnessing and traceability
  • Communicating with patients about their appointments and treatment cycle
  • Assisting with quality control / quality assurance
  • Monitoring / maintaining consumables, equipment and laboratory environment
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Completing relevant TFP Training Scheme modules
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of A‑Levels or equivalent; preferably a degree in Life Sciences
  • Experience in a laboratory environment is preferable
  • Good manual dexterity skills
  • Must be self‑motivated, eager to learn and have excellent time‑management skills
  • High level of attention to detail and focus
  • Resilient and hard working
  • Excellent communication skills
Other Information

Salary: Competitive (Depending on experience)

Location: TFP Oxford Fertility

Working Hours: 37.5 Monday to Friday – Weekend working at approximately a 1:4 ratio

Pension: Dual contribution pension scheme

Holiday Entitlement: 27 Days Bank holidays (pro rata)
