Job summary

KUKA Group is offering a Level 3 Quality Engineering Apprenticeship in the United Kingdom. The program covers hands-on inspection of components, dimensional quality checks, and collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to uphold strict quality standards.

Training blocks include Make UK sessions and in-house development, with pathways toward NVQ and BTEC qualification, in a structured year‑by‑year plan at the Aston, Birmingham area.

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs at 9–4 / A*-C (5+ preferred), must include maths, English, and ideally Science.
  • Self-motivated with good problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming components and materials against drawings.
  • Perform visual and dimensional quality inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Assist with Leica inspections to measure machine bases.
  • Provide measurement and inspection support to subcontractors as required.
  • File and maintain records of rejected components per the F55 process.
  • Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation.
  • Develop knowledge of engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Support commissioning by collecting data for CpK capability checks.
  • Create rejection notes with reasons, supplier, part number and job number.
  • Communicate quality issues to suppliers and internal departments.
  • Arrange collection/return of rejected components with relevant contacts.
  • Organise calibration of measurement equipment in line with procedures.

Kuka – Level 3 – Quality Engineering Apprenticeship

  1. 1. Inspect incoming components and materials against drawings.

  2. 2. Perform visual and dimensional quality inspections using precision measuring equipment.

  3. 3. Assist with the use of the Leica to inspect and measure machine bases.

  4. 4. Provide measurement and inspection support to subcon when required.

  5. 5. File and maintain accurate records of rejected components in accordance with the F55 process.

  6. 6. Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation (inspection drawings).

  7. 7. Develop practical knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances.

  8. 8. Support commissioning activities by collecting and recording measurement data for Cpk capability checks (Helps projects).

  9. 9. Create rejection notes recording relevant information including the reason for rejection, supplier, part number and job number.

  10. 10. Communicate quality issues to relevant supptiers and internal departments.

  11. 11. Arrange the collection and return of rejected components, liaising with Andy Norton as required (chasing if not returned).

  12. 12. Organise measurement equipment for calibration in accordance with company procedures and calibration schedules.

Working Week

At the company: Mon - Thur 8am - 4.30pm, Fri 8am - 12.30pm


Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.


Personal Qualities

It is important that the candidate is self-motivated, an effective problem solver with good planning and communication skills.


It is essential that the candidate has a keen eye for detail and a high level of pride in their work to ensure that the technical accuracy of their work meets the companies required standards.

Training to be Provided


  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company

  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace CompetenceTraining - in years 2 to 4 in company

  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK

  • In house training in line with your requirements.

  • Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer


Future Prospects


  • Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering

  • A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)

  • In house training in line with your requirements.
