Salary

£39,000 - £46,000 per annum (dependent on experience, not pro rata)

Hours

37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am – 4.30pm

Overview

Working at Baston House School means being part of an independent specialist provider for pupils with autism and additional needs. You will support pupils in a Key Stage 3 nurture class, delivering a curriculum that balances academic progress with life skills, emotional regulation and independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs
  • Create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
  • Promote pupil wellbeing, confidence and emotional development alongside academic progress
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to meet individual needs
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress using school systems
  • Work closely with parents/carers and external professionals to provide holistic support
  • Participate in school life, including staff meetings, CPD and school events
  • Maintain accurate records of behaviour, incidents and pupil progress
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and policy development as required
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching pupils with autism or learning difficulties
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour regulation skills
  • Ability to plan and adapt lessons for a range of learning styles and abilities
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
  • A reflective, proactive and solution-focused approach
Desirable
  • Knowledge of TEACCH, PECS, SCERTS or similar frameworks
  • Experience in specialist or alternative provision settings
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support
  • Ability to deliver a nurture-based curriculum and contribute to social/emotional learning
  • Familiarity with EHCP processes and statutory reporting
