£39,000 - £46,000 per annum (dependent on experience, not pro rata)

37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am – 4.30pm
Overview
Working at Baston House School means being part of an independent specialist provider for pupils with autism and additional needs. You will support pupils in a Key Stage 3 nurture class, delivering a curriculum that balances academic progress with life skills, emotional regulation and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs
- Create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
- Promote pupil wellbeing, confidence and emotional development alongside academic progress
- Use a range of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to meet individual needs
- Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress using school systems
- Work closely with parents/carers and external professionals to provide holistic support
- Participate in school life, including staff meetings, CPD and school events
- Maintain accurate records of behaviour, incidents and pupil progress
- Contribute to curriculum planning and policy development as required
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching pupils with autism or learning difficulties
- Strong classroom management and behaviour regulation skills
- Ability to plan and adapt lessons for a range of learning styles and abilities
- Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills
- A reflective, proactive and solution-focused approach
Desirable
- Knowledge of TEACCH, PECS, SCERTS or similar frameworks
- Experience in specialist or alternative provision settings
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support
- Ability to deliver a nurture-based curriculum and contribute to social/emotional learning
- Familiarity with EHCP processes and statutory reporting
