Job summary

Thurcroft Junior Academy, part of Aston Community Education Trust, invites applications for a combined Key Stage 2 teacher and SENDCo. The post drives day-to-day SEND provision, advises staff to secure high-quality teaching, and sits on the safeguarding team.

The trust funds the SENDCo qualification for those not yet qualified, with DBS and safeguarding checks in place. Visa sponsorship is not available; start is as soon as possible after 1 January 2027.

Qualifications

• Qualified SENDCo, or willingness to undertake the SENDCo qualification.
• DBS check at the appropriate level.
• Self-declaration of criminal record and suitability to work with children at shortlisting.
• Childcare Disqualification Regulations check for junior academy posts.
• Additional safer recruitment checks if lived or worked outside the UK.
• Not barred from working with children.

Job description

This is a combined Key Stage 2 teacher and SENDCo post at Thurcroft Junior Academy, one of the nine junior academies in Aston Community Education Trust, working alongside the school's existing SENDCo. The post-holder runs the day-to-day special educational needs provision and advises colleagues so that teaching meets pupils' needs, while making sure resources are spent where they improve progress. The role also sits on the academy's safeguarding team, and the trust funds the SENDCo qualification for those not yet holding it. Visa sponsorship is not available, and the start is as soon as possible after 1 January 2027.
