Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting experienced KS1 Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Leeds on day-to-day and longer-term supply opportunities. You will work with KS1 pupils (Years 1 and 2), assisting the class teacher, delivering small-group and classroom support, and helping pupils with SEND to maintain positive behaviour and engagement.

Start date is September 2026, with opportunities from day-to-day cover to longer-term placements and potential permanent roles.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils in primary settings.
• Ability to work with KS1 (Years 1 and 2) students.
• Comfort with managing classroom behaviour and supporting learning.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across Year 1 and Year 2
• Assist the class teacher with lessons and classroom activities
• Provide general classroom and small-group support
• Support pupils with SEND or additional learning needs where required
• Help maintain positive behaviour and engagement
• Support phonics, literacy and numeracy activities
• Adapt quickly to different primary school environments
