Job summary

Deutsche Bank in London is seeking a Kotlin DevOps Engineer for a 6 month contract. The role is hybrid with 3 days in the London office and 2 days from home, focusing on building scalable Kotlin services and cloud-native infrastructure using GCP.

You will work in mobs, practicing TDD and clean code, with strong emphasis on reliability, security, and production readiness across enterprise systems. This is a PAYE-engaged position through AMS.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience building backend services in Kotlin.
• Proven DevOps Engineer experience operating within a large organisation.
• Experienced with event sourced and event driven architecture.
• XP practices including mob programming, TDD, continuous refactoring and clean code.
• Cloud experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including designing, deploying and operating cloud-native solutions (GKE/Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Memorystore, Key Management, Terraform).
• CI/CD and SDLC experience in a regulated/enterprise environment.
• Comfortable with production systems requiring high availability and correctness.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Kotlin backend services in a large enterprise.
• Build and operate cloud-native infrastructure with modern DevOps practices.
• Work collaboratively in mobs and share ownership of design and code.
• Develop, test, and evolve services with clarity, simplicity, and maintainability.
• Support production platforms via incident-driven improvements to resilience.
• Interact closely with diverse teams and stakeholders.
